Keiffer McLean, the frontman of alternative Folk band Keiffer McLean & The Curiosity Club, recently sat down with Carter Vosper to discuss his music, creative process, and even his thoughts on root beer. The band’s music has been likened to Leonard Cohen, Frank Zappa, Rufus Wainwright, and Devendra Banhart, with a progressive roots style at its core. With two Canadian Folk Music Award nominations under their belt and a range of stage appearances, Keiffer and his band are preparing to release their second full-length album titled ‘It’s Bees for Dinner.’ In the interview, Keiffer shares insights into his creative process, the connection between visual art and music, the influence of living in Saskatchewan, and his unique perspectives on shrimp and live performances. Keiffer’s lyrics are intentionally poetic and open to interpretation, inviting listeners to co-create their own experiences with his songs. While he may not be an expert on root beer, you can listen to Keiffer’s latest single, “Vieques,” on various streaming platforms.
